How To Remove And Tighten Split Shaft Guitar Knobs
As for some guitars, it is easy to remove the guitar knobs while difficult to do so for others. So toady we will show some tips for removing that stubborn knobs on your guitar. Generally, I will fetch a piece of cloth and cut it into the desired size. It feels soft enough so that it won’t hurt the surface of your guitar. In addition, you can acquire it easily.
You need a piece of cloth with the size of 4" x 8" which you can acquire from your old, abandoned clothes. Then fold the cloth in half.
Put the folded edge of the abandoned cloth carefully under the knob. If the gap is too narrow, you had better squeeze it hardly until the cloth succeed in getting into the gap between the knob and the guitar.
Pull the two loose ends around the knob and start choking the knob with the cloth. Next start carefully pulling straight up on the cloth and the knob should simply pull off without any damage to your fingers or your guitar.
How to fix a loose fitting knob?
Fastening loose fitting knobs is a totally simple job. But if you operate improperly the knobs will be easily broken. If your guitar knobs belong to split shaft knobs, you shouldn’t be too careful since it is easy to spread the split shaft of the control. If you accidentally spread them too far, you need to bend them back.
How to tighten loose knobs?
After a long usage, there are some knobs on the guitar unstable which will cause poor contact to the electric circuit. In this situation, we can cut a little piece of masking tape and paste it on the top of the knob and the guitar surface. This way, the knobs will be fixed tightly on the control shaft.
